After the success of its last auction in Marrakesh in December 2021, which totalled €5,15 M, Artcurial Maroc is pleased to announce the sale of A Moroccan Spring.
For its 2nd edition, this event, which has become a reference for art enthusiasts, will take place on 28th May 2022 at La Mamounia, Marrakesh.
Majorelle and his Contemporaries
The first chapter of this session will be dedicated to Jacques Majorelle and his contemporaries. Four artworks by Jacques Majorelle will be presented, including an exceptional piece entitled Les Amies endormies. This rare and audacious painting made in the 1930s is estimated at €250,000 – 350,000 / MAD2,600,000 – 3,600,000. Furthermore, six artworks by Étienne Dinet will be auctioned, as well as artworks by Girardet, Washington, Azema, Rousseau or Bridgman.
Moroccan and International Modern & Contemporary Art
The Moroccan and International Modern & Contemporary Art chapter will highlight artworks by Glaoui, Rabi and Gharbaoui. Another centerpiece of the sale, a major and historical artwork by Mohamed Melehi, entitled Flamme, which is estimated at €150,000 – 250,000 / MAD1,500,000 – 2,500,000. This painting has remained in a private collection since its creation in 1969 and starts the famous Flammes series developed by the artist.
