There was a great sense of excitement for Le Mans 24 Hours this year, with the world’s most famous endurance race celebrating its 100th edition. Artcurial Motorcars and Le Mans Classic, long-term partners, return this month to mark this special anniversary with an auction on 30 June at the Bugatti circuit.
123 Collectors’ Motor Cars and 32 Automobilia lots will be offered for sale, in a line-up that highlights the extraordinary history of the event. Amongst a selection of cars that have participated in the race will be the Porsche 962C prototype that finished 3rd in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1990 and is estimated €1,500,000 - €1,800,000. Celebrating Ferrari’s victory in this year’s 100th edition, the Prancing Horse marque will be widely represented with 16 models coming under the hammer. The sale will also present some 12 private collections, including one family’s collection of 21 Alfa Romeos.
Other stars in the sale include a Bugatti Veyron 16.4, estimated €1,250,000 - 1,500,000, alongside a boat that belonged to Johnny Hallyday, the Bertram Baron 28 “DONT III”, estimated €80,000-120,000 with no reserve. The wide-ranging selection also includes an Aston Martin Ulster from 1934, the marque’s first “customer competition” car and one of only two equipped with an ultra-light Le Mans chassis, and a freshly restored Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster in concours condition. Many other remarkable lots will be on offer in this exceptional sale.
