Une des particularités de cette voiture est son état, qui résulte d'une restauration exceptionnelle. Importée en 1977 en Suède où elle était basée dans le sud, à Simrishamn, elle a été vendue en 1989 à un deuxième propriétaire suédois et, en 1998, a été retirée de la circulation car elle était très décrépie. A partir de 2016, elle a fait l'objet d'une remise en état complète par un spécialiste suédois des SM. Elle a pu bénéficier d'une "coque nue" neuve, comme Citroën la proposait à partir d'un stock non utilisé après l'arrêt de la production. En accord avec les autorités suédoises (et même sur leurs conseils !), le propriétaire a reporté sur cette structure l'identité de la voiture d'origine, qui reste donc préservée. Par ailleurs, tous les panneaux de carrosserie (à l'exception du hayon arrière) sont dits "NOS" ("new old stock", stock ancien neuf), et l'ensemble a été repeint en Vert des Tropiques AC 525, ce qui correspond à la couleur d'origine. Toute la mécanique (moteur, système hydraulique, transmission, échappement, climatisation, etc.) a été complètement refaite et, pour couronner cette magnifique réalisation, le propriétaire a retrouvé un intérieur neuf d'origine. La liste de pièces remplacées est impressionnante et peut être consultée dans le dossier.
Il est rare de rencontrer une Citroën SM dans un état aussi irréprochable.

One of the particularities of this car is its condition, which results from an exceptional restoration. Imported in 1977 to Sweden where it was kept in the south, at Simrishamn, it was sold in 1989 to a second Swedish owner and in 1998 was withdrawn from circulation as it was in a very decrepit condition. From 2016, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration by a Swedish SM specialist. It received a new "bare hull", as Citroën offered it from unused stock after production had ceased. In agreement with the Swedish authorities (and even on their advice!), the owner transferred the identity of the original car to this structure, which therefore remains preserved. In addition, all the body panels (except the rear hatch) are said to be "NOS" (new old stock), and the car has been repainted in Vert des Tropiques AC 525, which matches the original color. All the mechanicals (engine, hydraulic system, transmission, exhaust, air conditioning, etc.) have been completely redone and, to crown this magnificent achievement, the owner found a new original interior. The list of replaced parts is impressive and can be consulted in the folder. It is rare to come across a Citroën SM in such an impeccable condition.
